There is never a reason to use aversive tools in training! Positive Punishment is not a humane method of teaching. Positive Reinforcement shows our animals what we do want from, and we reinforce it with something the dog finds fun and enjoyable, that way we will see that behavior again in the future. Things that dog find fun, enjoyable and rewarding, then our dogs want to work for us, and they want to repeat the things that make them feel good while doing them.
